We make programmes that make us happy. Happy because they’re fun to make, but above all because people enjoy watching them. That’s why our programmes are optimistic and inspiring—with stories that stir something within, bring people together, or simply make you smile. Because if they make us happy, the viewers feel it too.
Twentytwo Productions was founded in late 2022 by Jasper van der Schalie and Paul van der Maesen. We work with the best and most talented (freelance) creators. We strive to create a pleasant working environment where everyone feels safe and can make the most of their talents. Twentytwo is part of Banijay Benelux.
Our Team
Paul spent many years as a format developer and head of development before taking up the role of creative director at Warner Bros Netherlands. There, he works on programmes such as ‘I Can See Your Voice’, ‘First Dates’, ‘Last One Laughing’, ‘Echte Meisjes’ and ‘The Bachelor’. Paul oversees the development, sales and production (content) of programmes. He has been doing so at Twentytwo since 2022.
Following a career in advertising, Jasper, together with Jan Slagter, helped found Omroep MAX, where he subsequently worked as Head of Television for several years. He then went on to establish the successful production company Stepping Stone. After 10 years, he decided to explore the world with his family. Upon his return, the entrepreneurial itch returned and, together with Paul, he set up Twentytwo.
Frederique has been working in television production for many years. She has worked for various production companies, including Skyhigh, Fremantle Eyeworks and Vincent TV. She is a seasoned professional, yet retains the same energy and dedication she had 20 years ago. As Head of Production at Twentytwo, she oversees the day-to-day operations for all productions. And she always ensures a pleasant working environment.
After working as an editor for several years, Klaas has been a freelance format developer for various production companies since 2021. In 2025, he joined Twentytwo, where he works on devising and developing new ideas, formats and creative concepts. Klaas is also a stand-up comedian.
Heleen has been working in the television industry for a long time and assists Twentytwo with all the legal matters that come our way. From complex contracts to difficult negotiations, Heleen throws herself into the task wholeheartedly, always taking a solution-focused approach.
Having produced television programmes of all shapes and sizes, Esther now puts all her knowledge and expertise to work to draw up the most thorough budgets, schedules and financial assessments. Without her, things would quickly descend into chaos.
